Asian Games - Yuan Xiaochao

Name : Yuan Xiaochao
Country : China
Date Of Birth : August 7, 1988
Height : 170cm

The 16th Asian Games was officially opened on November 12, 2010 in Guangzhou, China. This edition of the games brings together 9700 athletes (exlusives officials), all chasing after 476 gold medals but the games is almost surely to turn out as a lopsided affair with China winning more 50 % of the gold medals. On the first day itself, China had collected 19 out of the total 28 gold medals given out.

Yuan Xiaochao won the 1st gold for China and also the first gold medal of the games by winning the Men's Wushu , Changquan category. This two time world champion also won the gold medal in this event at the last Asian Games in Doha, Qatar in 2006. Winning the 1st gold medal for China and the games has put him in the spotlight in China. Already some people are hailing him as the possible next Jet Li who himself was also a national champion in Chinese martial arts.

This blog will feature athletes from this games from time to time for the entire duration of the 16 Asiad Games.

Runnersup to Yuan Xiaochao - Daisuke Ichikizaki (DOB: Feb.25 1987, 168cm) from Japan
