Date Of Birth : May 16, 1987

A gold medalist in the Men's 200m Butterfly swimming in Guangzhou.

He was introduced to the pool by his parents when he was 4 primarily for him to exercise so that he could lose some weight. In 1996 after watching a Chinese swimmer placed 4th in a swimming event, a best feat ever achieved by a male swimmer, he told his father he wanted to be the 1st chinese men to win a medal in swimming. This prompted him to dedicate his attention to swimming.

In 2004, competing in his first Olympics, at age 17, he became the only Chinese male swimmer to qualify to the final in a swimming event, the 200m butterfly. A year later at the World Championship in Montreal, Canada, he won a bronze in the same event. In 2007, he again won a medal, a silver at the World Championship in Melbourne, Australia. Despite making tremendous improvement, his dream of winning a medal at the Olympics is still out of reach after he was placed 4th at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
