Trivia : A graduate from Waseda University in Sports Medicine, he is currently the national swimmer for Japan in his specialty, the backstroke.
He started swimming at age 5 and won his first international title as a national swimmer at the 2006 Doha Asian Games. Since then he has won a few other titles. He was the gold medalist in the men's 100m backstroke and silver medalist in the men's 50m backstroke at the 2009 World Championship in Rome, Italy.
