MR HONG KONG 2010

The annual Mr Hong Kong pageant was held on August 21, 2010 and hot favorite, William Chak was chosen as the winner. William, a former actor with the rival of this year's organiser, TVB dominated the contest by winning not only the main title but 3 other subsidiary titles as well.

William, was born on 29th March 1985, stands at 178cm was the hot favorite right from the beginning. He joined ATV, the rival of TVB after being chosen by the former to represent Hong Kong at Mr Asia 2005. In the Asian contest, William came in second behind a representative from China.

This year's Mr Hong Kong was plagued with controversy when some groups in Hong Kong accused the pageant of discriminating against men. These groups were against the organiser of not choosing men as judges and not allowing men to be part of the audience. They also claimed that it was not proper to
allow the female judges to touch the contestants during the swimwear round. In contrast to Mr Hong Kong, the Miss Hong Kong pageant ( same organiser ) allows both male and female judges and audience and touching of the contestants has never been allowed.

Mr Hong Kong contest was first held in 2005 and since the first year, it has always be an all female affair, aside from the contestants. This year, the organiser retained the rules of not allowing men to be judges/audience but the touching of contestants part was scrapped. In the past, the contestants, would parade in swimming trunks within touching distance of the female judges but this year, the guys maintained some distance away from the ladies

MR ASIA 2005

Let's turn back the clock and return to 2005. A Hong Kong TV station ATV held the 1st and only edition of Mr Asia in 2005. Only a handful of countries participated and China and Hong Kong were represented by more than one contestant. Unfortunately for some reasons only known to the TV station, this contest was discontinued after 2005. The reason why i am posting this is because one of the contestants in this contest, joined the Mr Hong Kong 2010 which i featured yesterday.
